Accessibility Statement

Last updated: [DATE]

DSET is committed to making dset.co.uk accessible and usable by as many people as reasonably possible.

We want visitors to be able to access information about DSET, understand our programme and services, contact us and navigate the website regardless of technology, ability or circumstance.

Our accessibility approach

We aim to design and maintain the DSET website with reference to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.

These guidelines provide internationally recognised recommendations for improving the accessibility of websites for people with a wide range of access needs.

We aim, where reasonably practicable, to provide a website that allows users to:

navigate the website using a keyboard;

use common screen readers and assistive technologies;

zoom text and content without losing essential information;

understand page content through clear headings and structure;

identify links and interactive controls clearly;

view text with appropriate colour contrast;

access meaningful alternative text for informative images; and

use forms that include clear labels, instructions and error information.

Current accessibility status

The new DSET website has been designed with accessibility in mind.

[SELECT FOLLOWING WORDING AFTER TESTING: The website is fully compliant / partially compliant / not yet fully compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.]

A complete accessibility assessment should be undertaken following launch and following significant changes to the website.

We will use the findings of accessibility testing to identify and prioritise improvements.

Content that may not be fully accessible

Some content may originate from third parties or from historic DSET material and may not meet the same accessibility standard as newly created website content.

This may include:

PDF documents and historic event programmes;

embedded videos;

third-party registration or event platforms;

third-party maps or widgets;

downloadable documents produced by external organisations; and

historic photographs or graphics where suitable alternative descriptions were not originally available.

We will seek to improve this content where reasonably practicable.

Video and multimedia

Where appropriate and reasonably practicable, we aim to provide captions, transcripts or alternative information for important video and audio content.

Some historic recordings and content provided by external speakers may not currently include captions or transcripts.

If you require accessible information relating to a particular recording, please contact us.

Documents

We aim to make new documents published on the website accessible where reasonably practicable.

Some older PDF documents, brochures, programmes or documents supplied to us by third parties may not be fully accessible to screen readers or other assistive technology.

If you require information from a document in another format, please contact us and we will consider the most appropriate reasonable alternative.

Third-party services

Some services accessed through the DSET website are provided by third parties, including event registration and other embedded or linked services.

DSET does not have full technical control over the accessibility of third-party platforms, but accessibility will be considered when services and suppliers are selected or reviewed.

Event accessibility

Our commitment to accessibility extends beyond the website.

If you are attending a DSET event and require a reasonable adjustment or have an accessibility requirement, please contact the DSET team as early as possible.

We will work with you and the relevant venue or service provider to understand what reasonable arrangements can be made.

Feedback and contact information

If you experience difficulty accessing any part of this website, identify an accessibility problem, or require information in an alternative format, please contact us.

Email: [ACCESSIBILITY/GENERAL CONTACT EMAIL]

Please tell us:

which page or content you were trying to access;

the problem you experienced;

the device or assistive technology you were using, where relevant; and

the alternative format or assistance you require.

This information helps us investigate and improve the website.

Continuous improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing process.

We intend to review the accessibility of the DSET website following significant changes and periodically as the website develops.

We also welcome feedback from users about practical accessibility improvements.
